I Honestly Tried Shadow Boxing but…
Coming from a not so beginner boxer. They said it’s a great cardio workout.
2020 started off on a sweet note for me. Workout wise.
At the start of the year, I was doing what I liked the most out of all physical exercises — Kick Boxing.
I didn’t mind the shivering cold of Delhi’s January, cycling to reach the training centre because as soon as I was in, the tall, black, mighty punching bags would greet me with a warm embracing sight. See the actual picture below and tell me you don’t love it.

Of course as soon as I entered, these black beauties knew I was gonna punch and kick the shit out of them, but see the love — this never stopped them from toughening up before my next bout!
I came to the MMA centre, every alternate morning following a 3-day/week routine and learnt new styles, whilst also practising and strengthening, improving my existing moves.
At the centre of this all, was definitely my pal— the mighty punching bag.
Well, until it wasn’t.
Until the virus was still on its way.
Cut to June 2020.
The world is upside down. Some countries have already hit rock bottom and regaining momentum, some (like mine’s) are still managing to stay functional.
In any case, gyms, training centres are still closed in my community and my 40 days training plan has just finished (and continuing, read this -)
The 40-day plan is fine. It is essential for the body. It gives me the workout I need. But somehow, it lacks the fun I used to have in those winter mornings.
A nostalgic pang suddenly snuggles me. I think about my options.
